Our office in Chelmsford opened in September 2010  following the merger between Essex based corporate and commercial law firm Wollastons and Birketts. 

The Chelmsford office has an excellent team of solicitors and lawyers specialising in corporate and commercial law, dispute resolution, property law, agricultural law, employment law, Wills and estate planning and family law. The merger has enabled us to extend the range of services on offer from our base in Chelmsford and also to increase the depth of those services, with support from our offices in Cambridge, Ipswich and Norwich.

Our Chelmsford solicitors team is based at the iconic Brierly Place building in New London Road, Chelmsford. The building was once owned by former Chelmsford Mayor and Chronicle editor, John Ockleford Thompson who unfortunately was killed when a lone raider dropped a bomb on his home on Sunday 13th October 1940 during the Second World War. The area was bought by NFU who later rebuilt the building. In the late 1980s NFU sold the site to Churchmanor who in the early 1990s agreed with Wollastons to redevelop the site and rebuild the office. The building we see today was developed on the original footprint of Mayor John Thompson's home.

Wollastons moved in during October 1994, purchasing the building outright in 2004 and winning an award for the design of the building in 2005.

In 2012 we have been confirmed as the leading corporate law firm in Essex in the Legal 500 [UK 2012] rankings and once again we are the only law firm from Essex to feature in the top 100 law firms in The Lawyer’s UK 200 Annual Report 2012.
