Birketts continues to expand with appointment of two new recruits
We are pleased to announce the arrival of Oliver Crichton as a Senior Associate in our commercial property department in Ipswich and solicitor Laura Burke in our employment team in Chelmsford.
Oliver Crichton, 36, began his career in private practice where he trained and subsequently worked for an east of England based law firm for four years.
Before joining Birketts, Oliver was Director of Property at Suffolk Life, a leading provider of self invested personal pensions. In this role he led a department of 20 people dealing with the acquisition of over 300 properties each year and the management of a book of over 2,500 properties.
He said: “My previous role at Suffolk Life has equipped me with new and complementary skills including an understanding of the client perspective, people and business management skills and excellent contacts. But I’m pleased to return a legal-focussed role as this is what I originally trained and started out my career by specialising in.”
Oliver covers all aspects of commercial property work and has particular expertise in commercial property investment and in using self invested personal pensions.
Laura Burke, 26, trained and qualified in 2009 at a law firm based in Peterborough where she continued to work before relocating to Chelmsford and joining Birketts.
On her appointment Laura said: “Having worked and trained in the east of England I was aware of Birketts strong presence in the region and was impressed with the results the firm achieved in each year’s industry guide Legal 500.
“Since I was at law school I’ve always enjoyed all aspects of employment law and I trained and qualified in the employment department at my previous firm. I’m delighted to have the opportunity to develop my career with Birketts and to build on the experience I have already gained.”
In her new role, Laura will provide practical day to day advice and draft contracts, policies and procedures. She will also represent clients in the Employment Tribunal and Employment Appeal Tribunal.
