Experience
Gavin has extensive experience of advising business owners (from owners of agricultural businesses to shareholders of trading companies) on tax planning and inheritance issues (including business succession), wills and trusts. He also works closely with the corporate team to advise clients on tax matters relating to corporate sales and reconstructions, including the negotiation of tax indemnities and tax warranties. Gavin's recent experience includes advising a number of large family landowning businesses on estate planning and business succession issues, advising the shareholders of a company on business succession issues including the tax efficient implementation of appropriate life policy arrangements and advising an offshore trust company on the tax issues regarding the winding up of a large family trust. Gavin works closely with our property team in relation to Stamp Duty Land Tax matters. He is a member of the Stamp Taxes Practitioners Group. Gavin has a Masters Degree in Tax Law from the University of London.
