Henry joined Birketts in 2007. He is a partner in our shipping, logistics and international services team.
Henry specialises in all aspects of shipping, transport and marine insurance work. His core practice involves handling charterparty disputes and pursuing and defending cargo claims. He also advises on insurance coverage, the construction of international sale contracts and issues concerning conflicts of law/jurisdiction. Henry has wide experience of court litigation from commercial court through all appellate levels and arbitration work within the LMAA, CAMP and ICC. Henry worked at City law firm Clyde & Co for 8 years before joining Birketts.

Henry chairs the Lloyds Maritime Academy course on Marine Cargo Claims. He is one of the authors of the Informa Professional Academy Certificate in Marine Claims self-study course. Henry has an MA in French and Spanish from Edinburgh University and is fluent in both languages.
In Legal 500 [UK 2010] Henry is praised for his "prompt, clear and accurate advice". He is noted as a leading individual in Chambers [UK 2010], in which clients say they "can rely on him in any situation, even in case of an emergency, to clarify any kind of issues".
In 2008-9 Henry took three months' 'holiday' to complete a 900 mile unsupported expedition to the South Pole with two team-mates. The team followed in the footsteps of Sir Ernest Shackleton's 1907 Nimrod Expedition, in which Henry's great-grandfather took part, and arrived at the South Pole on 16 January after 66 days' travelling.
