Birketts sponsors 2013 Essex Business Excellence Awards

Leading East of England law firm Birketts LLP would like to congratulate all the winners of the 2013 Essex Business Excellence Awards who were announced at an awards ceremony held at Stock Brook Country Club on Thursday September 12.

Eric Pickles the Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government and MP for Brentwood and Ongar gave the keynote address on the evening.

Birketts were delighted to be joint main sponsors of the event, presenting the award for Essex Business of the Year to winners New Hall School, who also won the award for Best Growing Business (large company), the Community Award (business section) and Excellence in Marketing (large company).

The Green Award winners, also judged by Birketts were The County Hotel.

Grace Kerr head of the commercial property team in Chelmsford and judge for the Green Award said: "Green issues are championed in every aspect of the County Hotel's business.  Their impressive statistics include 90% of their waste being recycled and a 50% reduction in their carbon footprint since 2009.  They are only the second hotel in Essex to be awarded the Green Tourism Business Scheme's Gold Award."

Rafael Ruiz who was part of the judging team for the Essex Business of the Year award and a partner in the corporate team in Chelmsford commented: "New Hall School were fully deserving winners of the Essex Business of the Year award. Its strength across a number of areas was evident to all and indeed recognised by winning three other awards on the night."

He added, "The quality of entries in all of the categories was excellent. It is very encouraging to see that Essex has so much diversity and strength in our businesses."
