Birketts' Barrister shortlisted for Bar Council Employed Bar Awards

Birketts is delighted to announce that Matthew Gowen is a finalist in the 'Employed advocate of the year' category for the inaugural Bar Council Employed Bar Awards.

The awards, the initiative of the Bar Council and its Employed Barristers' Committee to acknowledge the success of employed barristers, will be presented at a gala dinner at the Tower of London on the 30 June 2017. 

Matthew was called to the Bar in 1992 and is a Barrister within the Birketts' Corporate Criminal Defence Team. He has a wealth of experience from over 20 years at the criminal Bar and offers advice and representation in all areas of corporate and regulatory crime.

Laura Thomas, Head of the Corporate Criminal Defence Team at Birketts, commented: “My congratulations to everyone shortlisted for these prestigious awards. I am delighted that the fantastic advocacy Matthew demonstrates in the criminal courts has been recognised."

Matthew added: “Having narrowly lost out to Tom Hiddleston in last year’s Rear of the Year awards I am hoping for a more successful evening on 30 June.”

Matthew will be speaking at The Real Health and Safety Conference 2017 on 8 June 2017.
