Disputes relating to education

Our lawyers who deal with disputes in the education sector have detailed sector knowledge and experience. The team advises the entire range of education institutions, including: universities, further education colleges, schools (independent and state including academies), quangos and research-led organisations. We use our sector knowledge to deal with typical commercial disputes, for example with suppliers of goods and services, as well as dealing with matters such as breakdown of international collaborations,  student challenges and the judicial review of funding and other governmental decisions. Using our experience of acting for public sector bodies we also advise private providers on disputes they encounter in the sector.

"We made the best choice by instructing the firm as we have been very satisfied with the work they have done." Chambers | UK 2017

We routinely advise on a wide range of student issues such as complaints, disciplinary matters, disability, mental health, fitness to practise, safeguarding and criminal convictions. We are sensitive to the importance of both internal and external institutional relationships but, where necessary, can act decisively to protect an institution’s reputation and position.

Our lawyers keep up to date with developments in their field and often advise on cases at the cutting edge of education policy. They regularly share their knowledge and experience in bespoke training for clients, by giving talks at national and regional conferences and writing articles for sector publications.
