Birketts LLP A growing firm with a growing reputation

Charity and ecclesiastical

James Hall leads a team with experience in ecclesiastical law of the Church of England and in charity law.  Our team have, for many years, dealt with the Charities Act, constitutional issues and the Charity Commission.  Whilst the needs of charity clients are largely similar to those of commercial clients, there are also unique issues to deal with, and the team's background and experience adds a practical and knowledgeable touch.

Our clients include The Bishop and Diocese of St Edmundsbury and Ipswich, the Bishop and Diocese of Norwich, Suffolk Wildlife Trust and the Suffolk Agricultural Association.

We are proud of our association with the local diocese.  James is Diocesan Registrar and Angela Long his assistant for St Edmundsbury and Ipswich.  Stuart Jones is Deputy Registrar.  Stuart Jones is the Diocesan Registrar of Norwich, and Gill Hadlum is his assistant.  James is also Deputy Registrar for Norwich.  Between them they have a wealth of experience and knowledge of ecclesiastical law.  Although their work is usually for the dioceses in Suffolk and Norfolk, they are able to assist in matters outside the area.  James has represented a couple on an appeal to the highest court within the ecclesiastical system, the Arches Court of Canterbury.
