Save the date! Our award winning summer scheme will take place across weeks commencing 24 June and 1 July 2019. You will need to be available for both weeks in full.

When do I apply?
You should apply on-line between 1 November 2018 and 31 January 2019.

Who should apply?
We welcome anyone to apply for the scheme who fits both our academic criteria and firm values, who is available to start a training contract in two years’ time, i.e. penultimate and final year law students, final year non-law students and graduates.

What makes a great Birketts trainee?
We welcome applications from people with strong academic backgrounds with a minimum of a 2:1 degree (or be on course to achieve a 2:1) as well as good A Level results. Applications are welcome from both law and non-law students.

On your behalf, we asked our trainees what skills and attributes they feel make a great trainee here at Birketts.  A selection of answers from our current cohort includes: “enthusiastic”, “conscientious”, “adaptable”, “friendly”, “organised”,  “curious”, "versatile", "driven" and “thoughtful” – we hope that helps!

How do I apply?
All applications for training contracts should be made using our online application system.

If you have a disability that prevents you from completing the form online please contact us on 01473 406281 so that we can make alternative arrangements.

When will interviews take place?
Shortlisting applications takes place immediately after the closing date of the 31 January 2019.  We aim to schedule interviews in or around February 2019.

What will the interview be like?
We seek to interview between 30-40 potential interns to shortlist from. You will be interviewed at the office to which you have applied by two Partners and the interview will last approximately 45 minutes to one hour.  During which, the Partners will aim to gain a full understanding of your application to us, your motivations, your experience in either the work place or during study, an insight to your interests and personality – you will be asked to prepare a 7-10 minute presentation of your choice to allow us to get to know you better!  We love to hear your questions too, come armed with interesting ones!
