IAG recently held its opening assembly of 2017 in Mumbai.
Daden Hunt, Chairman of IAG, Rafael Ruiz and Laurence Weeks represented Birketts at the Assembly which was hosted by ALMT Legal.
This was IAG’s third Asia Pacific assembly and followed Sydney in 2013 and Hong Kong in 2015. In four years IAG has gone from having one firm covering one country in Asia Pacific (Australia) to having 19 firms covering 28 countries, from New Zealand through the Pacific islands and South East Asia to India.
Highlights of the business session included two presentations. The first, by Shailesh Haribhakti the chairman of DHC (the local member of Baker Tilly International), was on doing business in India and included the challenges facing India in the 21st century. The second, by Sudhir Kumar of Morison Menon (the UAE member of Morison KSi), was on doing business in the UAE and Middle East.
The business session also saw the ratification of Pacific Legal Network as a member of IAG. PLN consists of 14 law firms across the Pacific including firms in Papua New Guinea, Fiji and the Solomon Islands.
The next IAG assembly will be the General Assembly from 11-14 May, which Birketts will be hosting in Cambridge.
