The seminar, which attracts the great and the good from the property world, has become a firm fixture in the calendar for property professionals who are keen to keep abreast of the latest developments.
Adrian Fennell of Roche gave an update on the rapidly evolving retail and leisure market. Sarah Fish and Laura Jones of Birketts’ Commercial Property team outlined the must-haves for housing associations in land and development deals, and also provided tips for avoiding delays in commercial property transactions. BDO examined topical property tax issues. Wayne Neale of BDO updated on the delay to the Reverse Charge rules until 1 October 2020 and explained VAT issues arising from property conversions and his colleague, Steve Watts, covered the rapidly changing world of capital allowances on construction projects and property acquisitions.
The question and answer session at the end of the presentations proved very insightful with questions ranging from the landlord and tenant relationship in the current retail market to managing the risk of abortive transactions and the Structures and Buildings Tax Allowance.
Bhargav Trivedi, Partner in Birketts' Commercial Property Team and Chair of this year’s seminar commented: “This seminar has developed into a must-attend event bringing together perspectives from three different advisers who are willing to share their collective specialist knowledge.”
