Leading law firm Birketts has announced the appointment of Ruth Neave as Legal Director and Head of Public Sector at Birketts.
Ruth joins from a local authority and specialises in contracts and procurement, EU Procurement Regulations, large multi-disciplinary projects, shared service arrangements, strategic partnerships and corporate governance. She has extensive experience of advising on, drafting and negotiating a wide range of works, supplies, services, concession and IT contracts and framework agreements as well as project managing corporate projects.
Jonathan Agar, Chief Executive Officer at Birketts, commented: “Ruth is a highly experienced Local Government Solicitor, having spent many years as a Principal Solicitor managing a Commercial Law and Property Team and acting as Deputy Monitoring Officer. She has a deep knowledge of local government and has advised Chief Officers and Members on a broad range of high profile commercial matters, including contracts arising from re-generation and infrastructure projects.”
"I’m really excited to have joined Birketts to head the Public Sector Team. Having worked in the public sector for nearly thirty years, I understand the unprecedented challenges faced by public sector teams, including the drive for efficiency savings, the smarter use of resources and the need for local authorities to generate income. My experience enables me to work alongside and complement the skills of in-house teams where required, whether this is due to a shortage of resource, time, capacity or expertise within the internal team” added Ruth.
Ruth will be based at Birketts’ Chelmsford office but will support colleagues across our four offices and serve clients throughout England and Wales.
