The past financial year has seen a high tempo of deal activity within Birketts with the Corporate Team advising on over 120 transactions with a total deal value in excess of £430m, which demonstrates the firm’s ability to build strong multi-skilled teams and provide sector specific expertise to deliver transactional objectives for clients.

The Technology Sector Team advised on a number of significant transactions, including the £24m sale of a 70% interest in Contamac Holdings Limited to Chinese owned Shanghai Haohai Biological Technology Co Ltd. We also acted for UltraSoC Technologies Ltd, the pioneering hardware embedded analytics technology provider based in Cambridge, on a £5m funding round from a premier list of new investors. The team, led by partner

Nigel Thompson, advised the shareholders of Selcia Holdings Limited, whose business provides integrated drug discovery, medicinal chemistry and isotope labelling services to the global life sciences industry and renowned research bodies, on its sale to Eurofins Agroscience Services, part of the Eurofins Scientific SE Group.

Cross-border deals have featured heavily in the last year, with the firm advising the shareholders of Gardline Group Limited on its £30m sale to Dutch maritime services firm Boskalis Holdings BV, while Adrian Seagers, Head of Birketts’ Corporate Services Division, led the team advising the shareholders of Veterinary Pathology Group, a network of responsive labs and experienced practitioners across the UK and Ireland, to German owned Synlab Group.
