Birketts has advised the management team of Ziegler UK, the Essex headquartered logistics business, on a successful management buyout (MBO) of the company from its Swiss ownership.
The transaction represents a significant milestone for the management team, positioning the business for its next phase of growth under local ownership.
Birketts advised on all legal aspects of the transaction, liaising with external advisers on overseas legal matters in Switzerland and Belgium, and managing the legal process through to a successful completion.
Corporate Partner Alex Forwood led the Birketts team, which included Mark Gipson (commercial and technology), Devreaux Gravell (corporate), Andrew Priest (commercial and technology), Melanie Harvey (intellectual property), Sally Beers (commercial and technology), Caitlin Sparrow (corporate) and Robbie Watson (tax).
Lee Marshall, Eaglets’ Group CEO, said: “Birketts delivered pragmatic, commercially focused support throughout the MBO process. The team’s ability to navigate the complexities of a cross-border transaction while keeping the deal on track was instrumental in achieving a successful outcome for the management team.”
Alex Forwood added: “We are delighted to have supported the Ziegler UK management team on this important transaction. Management buyouts of this nature, particularly with an international element, require close coordination and a clear strategic approach, and it was a pleasure to help deliver a successful outcome for our client.”
