Birketts has advised the owner of leading commercial maritime company Charity and Taylor on its sale to Aage Hempel Crame, a subsidiary of global specialised marine electronic solutions group Grupo Arbulu for an undisclosed sum.
Originally founded in Lowestoft in 2004, now with offices in Great Yarmouth, Aberdeen, Falmouth and Grangemouth, Charity and Taylor is recognised nationally for the quality of its services and equipment to clients in the marine industry. Specialising in the supply of ship equipment, satellite communications and commercial marine electronics, the company has grown impressively over the last three decades, supporting industry professionals across the whole of the UK.
Grupo Arbulu is a group of companies with global reach that specialise in marine electronics, IT and satcom solutions. Offering support to a diverse range of markets including commercial, mega yacht, manufacturing and fishing, it is hoped that Madrid-based Grupo Arbulu’s acquisition of Charity and Taylor, via Aage Hempel Crame, will enable the buyer to get a foothold in the UK market.
The transaction was led by Ed Savory, Nikki Reid, Shereen Semnani and Lorraine Porter (Corporate), with support from Ben Clarke (Tax), Andrew Ridout (Commercial Property) and Catherine Hepworth (Employment).
Nigel Darling, director of Charity and Taylor, commented: “The team remain grateful to our loyal customer base as we move forward in to a new era with Grupo Arbulu and Aage Hempel Crame. I enjoyed working with the Birketts team immensely – courteous, responsive and always pro-active, led by Ed I always felt confident that this transaction was managed with competence and efficiency.”
Ed Savory, Corporate Partner at Birketts concluded: “We are delighted to have advised on the sale of Charity and Taylor. Nigel and his team have worked hard to grow the company and have expanded to provide clients with an impressive portfolio of services that have established the business as a vital name in the industry. I am certain that Aage Hempel Crame within Grupo Arbulu is the right company to take Charity and Taylor forward in to a new chapter.”
