UK Top 50 law firm Birketts has achieved further growth in the Legal 500 rankings, securing increased recognition in the 2027 directory.
Published on 30 September 2026, the Legal 500 directory recognises Birketts’ depth of expertise, with its total rankings increasing from 181 to 205 and firm rankings climbing from 63 to 69. These results reflect the firm’s continued expansion across geographies and practice areas.
Highlights of the 2027 Legal 500 rankings include recognition of Birketts’ expertise in the South West, with Birketts being named a ‘Firm to Watch’ for Charities and Not For Profit, Commercial Property, Property Litigation, Family, and Social Housing. The firm also achieved its first ranking in Contentious Trusts & Probate in the South West.
The firm’s expanding presence in the South East was also recognised with first rankings for the specialist teams of Corporate and Commercial, Employment, Property Litigation, and Family. The South East Environmental and Planning team also ranked as a ‘Firm to Watch’, while the firm received a Tier 1 ranking for Contentious Trusts and Probate in the South East.
Birketts was also ranked as a ‘Firm to Watch’ for the first time for ‘Insurance and Reinsurance Litigation – London’ and ‘Financial Services: non-contentious/regulatory – London’.
Recognition for individual lawyers has increased, with 14 colleagues recognised in the 2027 Hall of Fame. A total of 132 lawyers were individually mentioned, including 59 in the ‘Leading Partners’ category, 25 in ‘Next Generation Partners’ and 33 in ‘Leading Associates’.
Birketts has also been recognised across 35 practice areas in the Chambers UK 2027, up from 29 last year. Highlights include 11 Band 1 practice rankings being retained in East Anglia and five new ranked practice areas secured for outside East Anglia.
Individual recognition in the Chambers 2027 rankings also increase, with 108 colleagues mentioned, up from 103 last year.
