Glen Miles, Legal Director in Birketts’ specialist Court of Protection team, has been appointed to the Office of the Public Guardian’s Professional Deputy Panel.
Starting from 1 January 2026, Glen’s appointment covers both the West and the South East of England, including East Anglia. As a Panel Deputy, Glen will take up the position of an independent professional who is approved and recommended by the Office of the Public Guardian to manage the affairs of a person who is considered to lack capacity where there are no suitable family or friends who are able to act.
Panel Deputies are appointed based on their extensive knowledge of the Mental Capacity Act and Code of Practice and selected based on their high-level of expertise and experience of working with vulnerable clients.
Birketts’ experienced Court of Protection team includes Jennie Kingham, Katie Mayes, Catherine Frost, and Francesca Hollick. Collectively they hold over 80 years of experience in acting as professional Deputies, Attorneys and trustees for clients with acquired brain injuries, mental health conditions, as well as those with neurodegenerative and neurodivergent conditions.
On his appointment as a Panel Deputy, Glen said: “I am proud to have been appointed for two regions of the Office of the Public Guardian’s Professional Deputy Panel lists this year. Over my 25 years of practicing, I have specialised in looking after the property and financial affairs of those individuals who lack mental capacity, and I’m looking forward to continuing this important position as a Panel Deputy as part of my role in Birketts’ expert and expanding Court of Protection team.”
