Tom Newcombe has been named Leader of the Year at the EastProp 2026 Awards.
Tom, who is a Partner and Head of Planning and Environmental at Birketts, as well as the Head of the Cambridge Office, was presented with the coveted award at the awards ceremony on 24 June at Homerton College in Cambridge.
The Leader of the Year Award recognises individuals who have played a significant and sustained role in the long-term success of the East of England property market. Tom has built a strong reputation both regionally and nationally for his pragmatic, solutions‑focused approach to planning and environmental law. His work spans complex sites, major regeneration opportunities and long-term strategic planning matters.
On winning the award, Tom said: “It is an honour to have received this award and to be recognised among so many respected professionals who are helping to shape the future of the East of England property market. The EastProp Awards are a unique opportunity to come together to celebrate the best of our region’s property industry, and I am proud to have played a role in its success to date alongside my colleagues at Birketts.”
Birketts was also named runner-up in the ‘Best Social Value & Responsible Business of the Year’ category.
