Michael joined Birketts as a Trainee Solicitor in September 2020.
Michael is based in our Cambridge office and is currently sitting with the Banking and Finance Team, where he will be assisting the team in advising both lenders and borrowers on corporate lending and finance transactions.
His first seat was spent with the Housebuilders Team in Norwich; in which he dealt with many aspects of developments including site set up arrangements, drafting transfers and leases, infrastructure easements, highway and drainage agreements, planning and title enquiries, and post completion matters.
He spent his second seat sitting with the Agriculture and Estates Team in Norwich. During this seat he dealt with a variety of areas, such as agricultural tenancies; farm and land acquisitions and disposals; secured lending; succession planning; and general estate management matters.
Prior to joining Birketts, Michael graduated from the University of East Anglia with a BA Honours in History, before completing the Graduate Diploma in Legal Studies with a Commendation at UEA. After this Michael went on to achieve a Merit in the Masters of Law Legal Practice at BPP University in Cambridge, where his electives were Employment Law, Debt Finance, and Advanced Commercial Property. Here his research project focussed on the law around third-party sexual harassment in the workplace and how this could be amended.
