Experience

Robert qualified as a Solicitor in September 2007 and joined Birketts from a leading regional firm in 2015. Before that he worked at the Norwich office of a top 50 national firm.

He has broad experience of a wide range of commercial litigation, including general contract claims, shareholder disputes, breach of warranty claims, professional negligence claims, “soft” IP disputes and disputes arising from insolvency. He has experience of high court and county court proceedings including urgent injunction applications, freezing orders and search orders. Robert has acted for some of the regions biggest businesses and public sector organisations, as well as a wide range of SMEs and individuals. Recent highlights include acting in a complex IP/breach of fiduciary duty/confidential information case which involved an urgent High Court injunction and a damages claim of over $13M (Allfiled UK Ltd v Eltis & Ors [2015] EWHC 1300 (Ch) (19 May 2015)).

Robert also specialises in franchising law and franchising disputes in particular, including default notices and franchise agreement terminations, post-termination restrictions, misrepresentation claims and franchisee class actions. Robert has acted for many of the countries leading franchises, including many previous BFA award winners. He also regularly advises on cross-border dispute resolution in the context of franchising.

Robert is based in our Norwich office.
