Jay joined Birketts in 2026 as a Paralegal in our social housing team.
He arrived at Birketts from the Inns of Court College of Advocacy, where he was awarded a Postgraduate Diploma in Bar Practice by King’s College London. Jay was called to the Bar of England and Wales in October 2025 by the Honourable Society of the Inner Temple, during the Deferred Trinity Term.
Jay is currently responsible for drafting and preparing advice for our solicitors on issues of liability, quantum, civil procedure, and ADR options across every stage of litigation, including pre-litigation, across a range of Social Housing matters, with a particularly heavy focus on disrepair. He brings valuable, litigation-focused experience in drafting, analysing, and advising solicitors through opinion writing on these same areas, developed through his previous work as an Advocate for various solicitors and as a Clerk to Judges at the Royal Courts of Justice in London.
Jay holds a Bachelor of Laws with Honours Degree from the University of Nottingham. Jay was the Champion of the University’s Second-and-Third Year’s Moot Cup (2022) and successfully represented his University at the Property Bar Association’s National Moot (2023), finishing as the Top University Team.
Jay is published in Personal Injury Focus (‘Dividing Line’, May 2025 Edn.), a law journal and previously served as an Associate Editor for a comparative law journal.
