Duncan is a Solicitor Advocate and regularly represents organisations and individuals facing regulatory investigations and prosecutions.
Duncan has led on a number high-profile and complex instructions for core participants to public inquiries along with representing major global corporates in enforcement actions and criminal investigations.
He regularly advises on matters with a cross-border element and has previously worked in Brussels and the US. He provides training for directors on liability and risk and is a regular speaker at relevant industry events and conferences.
Recent work highlights
Grenfell Tower Inquiry
Duncan advised a number of individual witnesses to the Grenfell Tower Inquiry who were employees of a core participant. There were some complex legal issues arising and the police investigation into the tragedy is ongoing.
Supermarket underage sale
Duncan advised in connection with an investigation and local authority prosecution of a supermarket following a failed test purchase. The matter was resolved without recourse to court proceedings.
CMA Green Claims investigation
Duncan led the legal team advising one of the companies investigated by the CMA for misleading consumers in relation to green claims. This was the first investigation by the CMA of this nature and was resolved by way of agreed undertakings.
