Farhana Begum joined Birketts in February 2026 as a newly qualified commercial real estate Solicitor.

She brings her valuable in-house training gained in local government, which has provided her with a strong foundation and a broad level of experience across a range of interconnected practice areas. Her experience spans in commercial real estate, property development, environment, highways, planning, property disputes and commercial contracts enabling her to approach transactions with a well-rounded and pragmatic understanding of both the private and public sector.

Farhana advises a diverse client base including acting for landowners, buyers, landlords, tenants, developers, local authorities and corporate entities on a wide range of commercial property matters. Her practice covers all aspects of property transactions including complex development projects, acquisitions, disposals, landlord and tenant matters, leases, easements, general estate management and advisory work. Farhana is particularly adept at managing matters that involve both public and private sector considerations, ensuring that clients receive commercially focused and practical advice. She is experienced in drafting and negotiating a broad range of legal documentation including deeds, licences, contracts and transactional documents while managing matters efficiently from inception through to completion.

In addition, Farhana works closely with major corporate landowners providing strategic advice to support the effective management of their extensive landholdings and often complex property portfolios. Farhana has experience in acting on strategic development matters relating to the Sizewell C project, advising on range of complex planning, highways, environmental and land related issues connected to a nationally significant infrastructure project. Experience included drafting key development agreements and supporting the progression of large-scale development sites involving private and public sector parties.

Acting on complex multi lease transaction for the disposal of a football ground asset

Farhana has experience in acting on complex multi-lease transactions involving the disposal of a local football ground and associated land assets in Hertfordshire. She advised and acted both as landlord and tenant on the structuring and negotiation of multiple occupational arrangements managing multiple occupational interests within a high value and time sensitive transaction, ensuring coordinated and commercial effective outcome. Her work involved managing competing interest across the site, liaising closely with stakeholders, agents and external solicitors and providing clear, pragmatic advice to facilitate a smooth and efficient disposal process.

Acting for corporate entity on the leasing of a leisure site for the use of an aqua park with café.

Farhana acted for a corporate client in connection with the leasing of a leisure site for the operation of an aqua park and café. She advised on all aspects of the transaction, including negotiation of lease terms, permitted use provisions, and operational requirements, as well as rights and site-specific considerations relating to public access and leisure use.
