Maddie is a Solicitor in our employment team, working as part of a specialist group advising professional conduct panels in the education sector.
Birketts is one of only three firms appointed to support the Teaching Regulation Agency’s professional conduct panels, reflecting the team’s recognised expertise in this area.
In her role as a legal adviser, Maddie provides clear, independent advice to panels to facilitate fair, transparent, and legally robust decision-making in accordance with the regulatory framework. She also plays a key role in preparing panel decision documents, accurately capturing deliberations and findings in cases concerning allegations of misconduct.
Maddie advises on a broad range of issues arising during hearings, including procedural matters, evidential considerations, and the application of relevant legislation and guidance. She distils complex legal principles into practical, accessible advice, enabling panel members to reach well-reasoned and robust outcomes. Committed to maintaining the highest professional standards, Maddie ensures that proceedings are conducted efficiently and with procedural fairness, while supporting the overarching objective of upholding public confidence in the regulatory process.
