Recent work highlights
Representing a client asserting a beneficial interest in their ex-partner’s property, which was solely registered in the ex-partner’s name. During the relationship, the client had made substantial contributions to renovations, both financially and via their own manual labour. A restriction was registered to prevent the sale and as a result of extensive negotiations, the outcome was successful and the client received a lump sum payment, representing their share.
Representing a client who jointly owned property with an ex-partner. The ex-partner was attempting to receive a larger share of the property and was claiming occupation rent. In the process, the parties received a claim against them from a management company, for not paying the management fees for the property. Through negotiation and offers, the parties agreed a settlement, which was recorded in a separation agreement and the management fees were significantly reduced and paid by one party, as part of the negotiations.
Acting for a party who jointly owned a property with their ex-partner, and the partner refused to leave the property or sell or transfer their interest. Successfully negotiating a settlement and drawing up the terms in an agreement, to include preparing possession proceedings prior to successful vacation of the property.
