Shona Houghton
Shona Houghton is a Senior Associate (FCILEX) and Debt Recovery Manager, based in our Bristol office.
Shona has 20 years of experience in debt recovery and providing collection and recovery services to a wide client base, including clients operating in education, energy, medical care, central government, assets based lenders, claims management services, financial services, property services, commercial businesses, and SMEs along with private individuals.
She has experience in the commencement of insolvency proceedings and assisting clients with contested insolvency proceedings along with the County Court system for uncontested and contested proceedings.
Shona is able to provide an efficient service to clients and enables me to maintain high success rates in recovery of debts and work alongside clients to ensure that the method of recovery is in line with the client’s commercial and economic needs.
Recent work highlights
Assisting a client in defending a Notice of Opposition to a Winding Up Petition presented for an unpaid energy debt of £1.2million and the subsequent appeal by the debtor.
Enforcement of a Judgment on behalf of a farm feed producer client claimant resulting in the removal and sale of livestock to obtain payment of sums owed.
Acting for a high-profile London law firm, specialising in Family Law, in respect of the recovery of their unpaid professional fee invoices in excess of £900k, subsequent common law assessment of fees and enforcement of the Judgment obtained.
