Training

Under the Shaping Excellence brand, the Birketts’ Employment Law Team have extensive experience in delivering tailored employment law and HR training to employers in all sectors and industries.

Examples of the courses that we offer can be found below. However, experience tells us that each employer has a slightly different training requirement, need or emphasis and we spend time understanding what your training needs are to ensure we can deliver the right solution for you and your people. We never deliver an “off the shelf” course and have frequently combined a number of topics from the courses below to ensure a truly unique solution is created to meet the delegates’ learning needs and the employer’s objectives. Have a look at some of the courses we have on offer.

Delivery:

We can deliver all training either in person at your premises or one of our offices or virtually to suit your needs.

During delivery of each course we have various approaches to ensure interactivity and the learning experience can be the best it can be, practical and relevant for the delegate’s day to day tasks and responsibilities. In particular:

  1. Presentation style – we have an informal presentation style to ensure delegates can interject, ask questions, challenge the learning and seek clarification. We aim not to speak for more than five minutes to explain a concept before breaking off and teaching it through an interactive exercise.
  2. Case studies – we use case studies for delegates to work in groups of three or four in the classroom or in breakout rooms if we are training virtually. This can often lead to lively discussion before each group presents their response back to the group. The trainer will often take a contentious approach to the case study to see whether the delegate counters this and picks up on an a better alternative option that was previously taught.
  3. Debate – we often split groups into two to debate various issues and appreciate a situation from a different viewpoint. Delegates are able to present their response but also appreciate the other viewpoint to the same situation.
  4. Videos – we have video clips embedded within our presentations which play out various scenarios to aid learning.
  5. Moving around the room – for some exercises, we get the delegates stood up and walking around the room, using the full training space to enable the blood to flow and energy levels to be maintained. Often groups will work with flip charts in each corner of the room or we use furniture and props to give a visual representation of the learning.
  6. Polls and voting – we use polling and voting to ensure that delegates are all engaged in the training and focused on the task in hand. This also allows us to monitor individual learning.
  7. Question and answer sessions – formal time is set aside for question and answers that are not picked up in the rest of the session.
