Birketts’ leading Property Team has advised on a long-term project with Churchmanor Estates Co plc (Churchmanor), which, having won a regional award from the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS), is now shortlisted for the National RICS Award.
The Birketts’ Property Team has been advising Churchmanor on the large-scale development in Colchester, Essex, known as ‘Stane Retail Park’ for over 10 years. The impressive development has gone on to win the RICS ‘Commercial Development for the East of England’ and is now shortlisted for the ‘Commercial Development’ National Award, with the winner announced at the Grand Final on 21 October 2022 in London.
Birketts has been involved in the retail project from its conception in 2010, advising on the original land acquisition, to seeing the project through to the letting of its commercial property units to household names such as B&Q, M&S, Aldi, Mountain Warehouse, Superdrug, Greggs and Cook.
Ipswich-based Churchmanor is one of the leading commercial property developers in the East of England. It is renowned for its collaborative, innovative and solution focussed approach to developments, with a strong emphasis on releasing the potential in brownfield and urban greenfield sites.
Providing feedback on Stane Retail Park, the judges of the regional RICS awards said: “This scheme harnesses the changing retail world, whilst taking into consideration within its design, its surroundings, through low environmental impact materials, rainwater harvesting and EV charging for cycles.”
