Birketts raises over £5,000 for Essex charities

UK Top 50 law firm, Birketts, is proud to have raised over £5,000 for four local charities through its Essex Soup charity event.
100 guests attended the event on April 26 at Hylands House in Chelmsford. Guests heard from four charities including Ending Life’s Taboo, Refugee, Asylum seeker and Migrant Action, King’s Money Advice Centre and Maldon Food Pantry. Over dinner those attending voted on how funds raised through donations from Birketts and their guests would be distributed amongst the charities.
Overall, Ending Life’s Taboo received the most votes and was rewarded with the largest share of the donations, which will go towards funding for more counsellors to support people between the ages of 18-45 facing life limiting illness. The balance of the donations was then divided equally between the other three charities.
Ruth Neave, Partner and Head of Public Sector at Birketts said: “We are very pleased to have held such a successful event for these local charities. The money raised will go a long way for all four charities who do some incredible work in the local area. We very much look forward to continuing our support for the Essex community over the coming years.”
Tracy Davies, Founder and Trustee at Ending Life’s Taboo said: “I felt really privileged to be invited by Birketts and Essex Community Foundation to share the work that Ending Life’s Taboo carries out in Essex. Everyone was so welcoming, and the evening was extremely enjoyable and informative hearing from the other charities participating. Receiving the award from Birketts supports at least 50 sessions of counselling for our clients who are at the most vulnerable time of their lives. Thank you so much.”
