Birketts wins at The British Wills & Probate Awards
11 October 2024
Birketts has won the Contentious Wills & Probate Team of the Year – Boutique award at The British Wills & Probate Awards 2024 following a successful year for the firm’s Private Wealth Disputes Team.
The team was recognised at the prestigious awards for its work in the high-profile case of Leonard v Leonard [2024] EWCH 321 (ChD) concerning a disputed will, as well as its work for a Litigation Friend of a minor who was the beneficiary of a life-time trust. Beyond the team’s case work, the award was also recognition for its commitment to client care, particularly the team’s 30 minute free consultation initiative and its own microsite – www.disputeawill.co.uk – which is dedicated solely to promoting the contentious trusts and probate expertise for those in need.
Following the teams win, Bernadette Baker, Partner and Head of Private Wealth Disputes, said: “It is an honour for the whole team and Birketts as a whole to be recognised at The British Wills & Probate Awards and it reflects the hard work and dedication the team has put in over the last year. Private client disputes can be very personal for those involved, often because they involved family members, which is why here at Birketts we have looked to tailor what we offer to make it as easy as possible for our clients to navigate when they are facing a dispute concerning their own personal affairs. This acknowledgement of our efforts to put our clients’ needs first goes to the heart of what Birketts is about.”
This award follows other recent successes for Birketts. The firm won a Norfolk and Norwich Law Society Excellence Award for its commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion and has been shortlisted for two other awards.
Earlier this month, the firm’s Corporate Team was shortlisted six times in the Central & East Dealmakers Awards 2024. The Family Team has been shortlisted at the LexisNexis Family Law Awards 2024 for both the Family Law Firm of the Year – South and the Family Law Workplace of the Year. The good news hasn’t stopped there for Birketts, having reached the final in the legal services category for the Social Care Premier Supplier Awards 2024.
