The 2023 Norwich Legal Walk has raised over £5,000 for the legal advice sector.
The walk, which took place on 11 May 2023, is an annual event that brings together the legal community and supporters of the Access to Justice Foundation to raise money for the advice sector as well as raising awareness of the essential work it does daily.
This year’s walk saw over 40 teams and over 250 participants take on the 10km route. Starting and ending at The Forum, the route took walkers around the outskirts of Norwich city centre crossing mixed terrain and taking in sights including Norwich Cathedral and Norwich Castle.
Organised by the Norfolk and Norwich Law Society and Rampling Clarke, the event was coordinated by Maddie Taylor of Birketts, Claire Louise Clarke of Rampling Clarke and Eleanor Chapman of Leathes Prior.
At the start of the walk, Naomi Newell of Birketts gave a speech about the vital work of the access sector.
Claire Clarke, Director of Rampling Clarke, said: “This year’s Norwich Legal Walk was the biggest event ever and we’re thrilled to have been able to bring so many people from the region’s legal community together to support such a worthwhile cause. Not only is this the largest walk we’ve ever held, but we’ve also raised more money for the legal advice sector than ever before. A big thank you to everyone involved.”
Maddie Taylor, Solicitor in Birketts’ Employment Team, said: “I’m really pleased to have played such an integral role in this year’s Norwich Legal Walk. In the current economic climate it is more important than ever that everyone is able to access legal support, and the funds raised will help to ensure the legal aid sector can continue its valuable work for those who need it. Thank you to everyone who took part and helped us to make such a big impact.” For more information, visit https://atjf.enthuse.com/cf/2023-norwich-legal-walk
