Birketts is welcoming three new lawyers to its growing, top-tier Social Housing Team, including new Partner Clive Adams.
Since qualifying as a solicitor in 1997, Clive has accumulated a vast knowledge of the social housing sector. An acknowledged housing and asset management expert, Clive has handled cases in both the High Court and Court of Appeal. He has more than 20 years’ experience supporting social landlords run possession claims, tackling disrepair, boundary issues, and service charge disputes in the First Tier Tribunal. As well as this, Clive spent six years as a Director for Sussex Education Trust, having since become a Member for the Trust’s own Chichester Free School.
Also joining are Associate Lee Stone, a highly regarded development lawyer with years of experience working as a solicitor for one of the UK’s leading housing associations, and Solicitor Elena-Lucia Singleton, a leasehold management lawyer. The three are joining a team that already represents some of the biggest housing associations, local authorities and sheltered housing providers, with an ambition to build a truly national practice.
Commenting on the appointments Chris Schwer, Partner and Head of Property at Birketts, said: “Clive, Lee and Elena-Lucia are joining our Social Housing Team at a challenging time for the country and social housing sector. Their individual insight and experience will quickly benefit our clients and I speak for the whole Property Division when I say they will be welcome, invaluable additions.
The changing landscape of housebuilding and social housing, accelerated by the Government’s recent Planning White Paper, means that housing associations and registered providers need the clearest, most current legal advice available – the wealth of experience within our team means our clients our guided through this landscape as smoothly as possible.”
Partner Clive Adams added: “I’m excited to join Birketts, who have built a first-class reputation for putting their clients’ interests first and an emphasis on transparent and pragmatic legal advice. I look forward to collaborating with my new colleagues in the Social Housing Team and across the firm, as we build a truly national, one-stop shop offering for our social housing clients.”
Although Clive, Lee and Elena-Lucia will be based in Birketts’ London office, they will assist colleagues across the Chelmsford, Cambridge, Ipswich and Norwich offices.
