Kevin Wilson
Kevin leads the Ecclesiastical Team at Birketts and is a partner in the Private Client Division. He is based in our London office.
Kevin is the Diocesan Registrar of the Diocese of Guildford and Deputy Registrar of the Dioceses of London, Norwich and St. Edmundsbury & Ipswich. He holds a Master’s Degree (LLM) in Canon Law from Cardiff University.
Prior to his interest in Ecclesiastical law, Kevin spent more than 20 years advising on corporate law matters including mergers & acquisitions, reorganisations, management buy-outs, shareholder arrangements and other corporate advisory work.
Kevin is a member of the Ecclesiastical Law Society, the Ecclesiastical Law Association and is a school governor and a Deputy Churchwarden.

Experience & education
Kevin completed a Master’s degree (LLM) in Canon Law at Cardiff University in 2022. His academic studies focussed on the practical aspects of the law governing the Church of England. Having completed the LLM course, Kevin has been asked to return to Cardiff University to speak to the ongoing cohort of students on topics of interest, such as the law relating to Holy Communion and the role of a Diocesan Registrar.
After training and then working for a magic circle firm, Kevin worked in-house for over 10 years as the General Counsel/Chief Counsel of several businesses. During this time, he gained a thorough understanding of the broad range of work that in-house legal departments undertake. Kevin managed teams of lawyers across the world who serviced global organisations.
His transactional experience has covered various sectors, including, retail, financial services, technology and IT, leisure and hospitality, travel and manufacturing.
Outside of work, Kevin is a Deputy Churchwarden and member of the parochial church council of his parish church in the Diocese of Oxford. He is also a school Governor where he is a member of the Learning & Standards Committee and is the Governor responsible for policies.
