
Mariya is an Associate in our Commercial & Technology Team based in our London office.
Her particular focus is on complex contractual arrangements, non-contentious intellectual property, and data protection.
Mariya joined Birketts in 2025 from Ernst & Young, where she was a Manager in EY’s client facing Commercial and Digital Law Team.
Prior to EY, Mariya trained and worked at a leading global law firm advising on cross-border M&A, initial public offerings on the LSE’s Main Market and AIM as well as, project financing and, as a paralegal at a City law firm, a multi-billion fraud civil litigation. Mariya’s in-house experience includes two six-months client secondments.
Recent work highlights
Advised a FTSE 100 business on a high value, global outsourcing and transformation project relating to the client’s global finance operations.
Advised on the commercial, intellectual property, and data aspects of M&A deals, including vendor and buyer due diligence and negotiation of warranties.
Advised an incubator of a global energy technology company in relation to the creation and drafting of market acceptable standard terms and conditions for project consultancy and sales / purchase of goods and services to be utilised with start-ups in the sector.
Advised a data-driven business on its standard terms of business, including critical advice around contractual protections in respect of its algorithms and data models.
Whilst on secondments, Mariya provided day to day pragmatic legal advice to the business stakeholders in matters related to global operations and procurement.
