
Sarah joined Birketts in February 2025.
She is a Partner in our Construction and Engineering Team and is based in our London office.
Sarah has extensive City firm experience, having previously worked for firms including Hogan Lovells, Ashurst, Charles Russell Speechlys and Spencer West.
Sarah has built a strong reputation as a disputes lawyer with 30 years’ experience in construction, engineering and energy projects both in the UK and internationally. She has particular expertise in managing risk on live projects and avoiding and resolving substantial and technically complex disputes. She has acted for multinationals, PLCs, public bodies, private sector clients, and high net worth individuals in advising on a wide range of bespoke and standard form contracts including JCT, NEC, ICE, RIBA, ACE, FIDIC and PFI/PPP forms. Project experience includes mixed commercial/residential schemes, road, rail, airports, prisons, educational and hospitality establishments, energy from waste plants, social housing, residential conversions and new builds, telecommunications schemes, ports and conversion of offshore marine vessels.
Sarah works with all key members of the construction supply chain, devising strategies to maximise attainment of commercial, strategic and financial objectives.
She has expertise in ADR (negotiation, mediation, expert determination), adjudication, TCC litigation and domestic and international arbitration. Her international arbitration expertise covers disputes in Europe, West Africa and the UAE conducted under ICC, LCIA, LMAA and DIFC-LCIA as well as ad hoc rules.
