Ike joined Birketts in April 2022. He is a Paralegal in our Social Housing Team and is based in our London office. Ike deals with a variety of social housing matters for housing association and local authority clients, including:

  • Assisting and defending disrepair claims. 
  • Assisting in the running of possession claims, including s8 and s21 claims. 
  • Supporting organisations with ASB and access injunctions.
  • Supporting organisation with the recovery of rent and service charge arrears. 
  • Providing general advice to clients on repairing covenants and other obligations. 

Prior to joining Birketts Ike worked for over two years as a self-employed county court advocate acting for various solicitors, gaining a variety of property and commercial law experience while arguing clients’ cases before District Judge’s in various County Courts across London and the South-East. Ike was primarily involved in mortgage disputes, landlord and tenant matters and various civil procedure issues including directions hearings, enforcement proceedings and set aside applications. This variety of work was done along with return of goods hearings, infant approval work, insolvency disputes, RTA hearings and general civil litigation matters, including parking charge notices. 

Ike previously volunteered with the Islington CAB gaining experience in advising clients in dispute with mainly social landlords, employment law matters and drafting s193 duty to accommodate appeals. He graduated with an LLB first class honours degree, and was third in year, winning the Lady Olivier prize for the best graduating student in Company Law.  

Ike was called to the Bar of England and Wales in November 2016 and also holds a first degree equivalent qualification in Finance. Prior to a career change to law, he was a store manager for various retail giants, including Tesco, Burger King and BP. Prior to joining Birketts, Ike worked for one of the three biggest housing associations in London and the South East as a Legal Disrepair Case Manager, defending against legal disrepair cases.

When time permits, Ike is an armchair football, tennis and boxing fan.
