Josh joined Birketts in 2022 having graduated with a 2:1 in Law from the University of East Anglia in the same year. Whilst at University, Josh became Treasurer of the European Law Students Association in his first year where he managed the society’s finances, as well as volunteering at the Norfolk Community Law Service (NCLS) in the welfare rights team in his second year. Alongside these positions, Josh took part in the UEA Law Society’s competitions including Mooting where he was a semi-finalist, Client Interviewing and Negotiations where he was a quarter-finalist.

Prior to joining Birketts, he obtained various experiences which has supported him in his current role. He previously worked in the financial industry alongside his A-Level and Degree studies. In 2018, Josh became a part-time Member Assistant at Suffolk Building Society where he worked to assist customers with their financial queries as well as executing various transactions when instructed by the customer. He also undertook SkillServe examinations which broadened his understanding of how regulation affects his work and important function it performs to protect both the customers and the building society. In 2021, Josh returned to Suffolk Building Society as a part-time Mortgage Support Assistant where he gained valuable experience working on mortgage cases to ensure timescales were met and liaised with customers to facilitate their mortgage needs. It was here that Josh affirmed his ambition to work in property from a legal perspective once he had completed his degree.

Josh is a Graduate Solicitor Apprentice in the Chelmsford Commercial Property Team where he undertakes all aspects of commercial property transactions including sales and purchases of leasehold and freehold properties, landlord and tenant transactions, producing reports on title for prospective property purchases as well as assisting with various development land transactions. As part of the apprenticeship, he is also studying for the SQE at the University of Law to become a qualified solicitor in 2025.

Outside of the office, Josh enjoys learning about history by going to museums, stately homes and reading about interesting moments in history. He is also a motorsport fan, including watching F1 at the weekends and enjoys go-karting on the odd occasion. Josh also likes eating a variety of cuisines, and is keen to try more in his free time.
