Fundraising and data protection laws are changing – is your charity ready?
July 5, 2017

The regulatory landscape in relation to charity fundraising is in a period of significant change. We have already seen a significant overhaul of the regulatory framework, with the introduction of the new Fundraising Regulator and new legislation to protect the public from unreasonable behaviour by fundraisers. There is more change to come.

In particular, the new General Data Protection Regulation (which will come into force in May 2018) will have a big impact on charity fundraising practice and steps should be taken now to get prepared for this.

To help steer you through this complex period the team at Birketts has written two guides.

  1. Birketts’ Guide to Charity Fundraising is intended to provide an overview of recent changes in law and regulation affecting charity fundraising, and to identify specific actions that charities should take to ensure compliance with legal requirements.
  2. Birketts’ GDPR Guide has been produced in response to The General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR). With increased penalties of up to €20m or 4% of worldwide turnover for breach of the regulations, charities must act now to ensure that their policies and procedures are compliant with the new regulations.

To request your free guide(s), please select the relevant option below and include your postal address.
