10 new Partners announced at Birketts following internal promotions
1 June 2021
Birketts has announced the appointment of 10 new Partners, taking the total number of Partners in the firm to 90.
These new Partner appointments illustrate the breadth and depth of legal advice available at Birketts. The Corporate Team’s Paul Palik, Employee Incentives’ Lisa Hayward, Commercial Litigation’s Maria Peyman, Commercial Property’s Gemma Goddard, Residential Property’s Amanda Angel, Agriculture’s, Annabelle Rout and Real Estate Finance’s Elizabeth Lee have been promoted, as have the Family Team’s Sarah Overy and Emma Brunning. Susan Young of Birketts’ Private Client Advisory Team has also been promoted and will take up her new role on 4 October upon her return from shared paternal leave.
Despite exceptionally testing circumstances, Birketts’ consistently strong performance has continued unabated this year. The law firm climbed to 58th in the top 100 UK law firm rankings by turnover and recently picked up two award wins at the Insider South East Dealmakers Awards 2021.
Jonathan Agar, CEO at Birketts, said: “The wealth of experience and legal acumen that our 10 new Partners bring to their new roles is invaluable; we are delighted to welcome them to the partnership, confident that the future of the firm is in safe hands.
These well-deserved promotions are proof of the importance of developing talent. Throughout the pandemic we have continued to nurture the talent of our lawyers at every level, which means our clients are supported by the brightest minds in their specialisms no matter how complex their legal issues.”
Senior Partner James Austin added: “These are exciting times to be joining the partnership – last year’s merger with EC3 Legal, which saw the firm establish a London office, and our continuing climb up the top 100 UK law firm rankings set a clear trajectory to Birketts’ future. With our new Partners in post and the continued hard work of colleagues firm-wide, I have no doubt we will continue to thrive and provide the exceptional service our clients can expect with every matter.”
