Birketts added to Charity Commission Interim Managers list
8 July 2024
Two members of Birketts’ Charities Team have been approved to join the list of practitioners who will be considered for future Interim Manager appointments by the Charity Commission.
Following a rigorous assessment process, Liz Brownsell, Partner and Head of Charities, and Jennifer Marley, Senior Associate in the Charities Team, have been successfully added to the approved Interim Managers list alongside 34 other firms.
Interim Managers are appointed to manage the property and affairs of a charity in serious cases of abuse and regulatory concern. Last year, the Commission made Interim Manager appointments at 10 charities.
Acceptance to the list, which opens for applications once a year, means Birketts will be invited to tender when the Charity Commission is investigating charities and wishes to appoint an Interim Manager with charity law expertise as part of the Statutory Inquiry process.
On joining the list, Liz Brownsell said: “We’re delighted that both Jen and I have been accepted onto the Charity Commission’s Interim Manager list. Interim Managers play a key role in addressing problems that charities encounter, and we’re confident that our charity law expertise will prove invaluable in protecting trust and confidence in the sector.”
