Birketts advises on newly improved Foxhall Recycling Centre
20 March 2024
Birketts’ Commercial Property Team has advised Suffolk County Council on the redevelopment of its household waste recycling centre on Foxhall Road in Ipswich.
Working closely with the Suffolk County Council Waste Team, the objective of the project was to secure a state-of-the-art waste site fit for the future by enlarging and redesigning the recycling centre.
Led by Amanda Timcke, Legal Director, Birketts’ Commercial Property Team oversaw the complex land ownership and lease arrangements to enable construction to begin on site.
Work on the project commenced in 2020, the legal work was completed late 2022, with the newly improved recycling centre officially opening in March 2024.
On the opening of Foxhall Recycling Centre, Amanda Timcke said: “It was a pleasure to work with the Waste Team on this project. We knew how vital it was to get all of the land ownership and lease arrangements secured so that construction could begin, and we are pleased to have played a role in creating a recycling centre which is fit for the future.”
Steve Palfrey, Assistant Director, Waste and Environment, Suffolk County Council, said: “It is no exaggeration to say that without Birketts’ expertise in sorting all the complex legals at Foxhall we wouldn’t have a new site to open. The team has really enjoyed working with Amanda and appreciates all the support from Birketts in getting this project across the line.”
