Continuing its emphasis on the wellbeing of its employees, Birketts, a UK Top 50 law firm, has appointed Nicola Riggs as its new Wellbeing Nurse.
Nicola, who started at the firm this month, has joined the firm in order to provide Birketts employees with support and advice on physical or mental health. Having been a nurse for all of her working life in patients’ homes, the NHS and the independent sector, Nicola brings a new skillset to the firm, offering a completely confidential independent service and an ability to signpost for additional specialist support if and when required.
The role has been identified by leaders at the firm as an important next step for delivering it’s THRIVE programme, which focuses on the development and implementation of proactive wellbeing initiatives and campaigns.
On joining Birketts, Nicola said: “Having had a varied, challenging, happy and interesting career so far, this new role as a Wellbeing Nurse will combine all that I have learnt along the way in a completely different environment. To me, mental health should be seen in the same light as physical health. I am here to offer practical clinical advice and a listening ear – whether work or non-work related – and I look forward to using my experience to help colleagues through whatever may come their way.”
