Birketts donates Essex Cricket Club memorabilia to Kids Inspire for online auction
17 November 2020
Leading regional law firm, Birketts, is delighted to announce that it has donated a collection of Essex Cricket Club sponsor-only autographed memorabilia to Chelmsford-based charity, Kids Inspire, to sell at an online auction.
Organised to raise much needed funds to support children and young people recovering from traumatic experiences or dealing with mental health difficulties in Essex, the auction is part of Inspire Kids’ ‘No Show Ball’ – a virtual event taking place instead of the charity’s annual gathering.
Birketts’ signed cricket bats were collected earlier this month, with the online auction set to start on 17 November and end on 1 December – Giving Tuesday – a day to celebrate and encourage giving across the world.
Birketts has been a Club Partner of Essex County Cricket Club for many years. Working collaboratively to boost community engagement and make a difference in the local area, the donation of this exclusive set of memorabilia marks a valuable opportunity for these two organisations with an esteemed presence across East Anglia and its neighbouring regions, to give back. By coming together for the benefit of Kids Inspire, these two regional heavyweights are proud to play their part in raising funds for children in Essex.
Emma Brunning, Senior Associate in Birketts’ Family Team commented: “The effect on children of their parents’ separation can be traumatic. To make the situation more difficult for them, some children have witnessed or been subjected to domestic violence. The long-term effect on children’s mental health can be overlooked in the midst of such a difficult time, when the parents are also suffering. I am glad to see charities like Kids Inspire are able to provide much needed help. We are lucky, in Essex, to have this resource. Birketts are pleased to support Kids Inspire, as Chelmsford office’s chosen charity of the year and to highlight the good work that they do.”
Paula Ashfield, Fundraising and Communications Manager at Kids Inspire, said: “We are incredibly grateful to Birketts for supporting Kids Inspire as their chosen charity during an extremely difficult time for all. Their contributions towards our forthcoming online auction will help us to recoup some of the funds that we have lost this year due to the impact of COVID-19. Our work has not stopped throughout the pandemic, and sadly we have seen an increase in referrals. Our mental health support is needed now more than ever, and it is thanks to supporters, like Birketts, that we can continue to be there for children, young people and families.”
