Birketts secures acquisitions for Black Swan Care Group
14 October 2016
Law firm Birketts has advised Black Swan International on the purchase of its third care home in Norwich and another facility near Colchester as the care homes provider continues to expand within the region.
The Norwich-based group has been involved in the Care Sector since 1991 and now has 15 sites, which includes a mixture of homes for the elderly and those with physical and/or learning difficulties.
Birketts advised Black Swan’s Board on all legal matters with Greg Allan, Corporate Law Partner, leading the team. Assistance on the deal was provided by Melissa Loucas (Property), Andrew Ridout (Property) and Matthew Newnham (Employment).
Black Swan Care Group’s Managing Director, Tom Lyons, said: “The care industry is going through a challenging period but Black Swan continues to thrive. Greg Allan has a very good understanding of the care home sector and coupled with Birketts reputation for corporate law services, they were the natural choice when selecting the right law firm. Throughout both acquisitions our client service experience couldn’t have been higher.”
Greg Allan, commented: “We have a number of clients in the healthcare sector. With an ageing population and with people living longer, the care industry is expected to continue to grow but access to bank funding would enable greater acquisitions within this challenging sector. It has been a pleasure to advise Black Swan’s Board on the purchase of two care home facilities within the Eastern region. I look forward to watching the business continue to go from strength-to-strength.”
