Jessica joined Birketts in September 2020 as a Trainee Solicitor. She is in her third seat in the Family and Matrimonial Team. She is currently based in our Chelmsford office and assists colleagues and clients with a range of issues involving family law including divorce and financial issues arising from divorce and disputes involving children. 

Jessica has also sat in the Private Client Advisory and Agriculture and Estates teams as part of her training contract, and throughout this time she has been able to pick up skills in drafting, tax and succession planning and advising. 

Prior to joining Birketts, Jessica graduated from the University of Warwick, where she achieved a 2:1 in her Law with French Law degree. After university, Jessica spent a year working as a Paralegal in the Clinical Negligence department at a regional law firm in Cambridge. She then went on to achieve a Distinction in the Legal Practice Course at BPP Cambridge, where she completed electives in Family law, Employment law and Commercial and Intellectual Property law.

Other Information

At university, Jessica volunteered with PHAB, a charity which aims to support young people with and without disabilities to break down community barriers and take part in activities and challenges together. Jessica also took part in a pro-bono project where she attended local schools to give talks to students about human rights.

Jessica is currently part of a team at Birketts which volunteers with the Suffolk Law Centre and offers legal advice on a pro-bono basis to help local people tackle their legal challenges.
