Sanna joined Birketts in March 2017 and is an Associate Solicitor within our specialist Utilities Team, based in our Ipswich office.

Sanna specialises in land rights transactions within the utilities sector providing strategic advice and legal solutions to network providers for electricity, gas, water, heat, and fibre telecommunications. This includes leading Independent Distribution Network Operators (IDNOs), Distribution Network Operators (DNOs), gas transporters and water suppliers. She has vast experience in advising statutory undertakers on all aspects of utility infrastructure transactions and negotiating complex land rights deeds.

Sanna’s expertise extends to advising IDNOs, DNOs and landowners in land rights transactions relating to the installing electric vehicle (EV) infrastructure, an area of increasing importance as the UK advances towards a greener future. She has significant experience in working with various EV operators and can provide essential guidance and legal support to her clients in navigating the complexities of EV infrastructure transactions.

In her daily practice, Sanna is committed to providing her clients with clear, concise, and practical legal advice, with a focus on delivering outcomes that meet their strategic and commercial objectives.

In her spare time Sanna participates in the firm’s Cornerstone Employer initiative. The programme supports local secondary and college students from diverse backgrounds, to prepare them for the working world. She is passionate about inspiring young talent to enter the legal sector regardless of their background.

In addition, Sanna volunteers as a trustee for a local charity that supports vulnerable women and children affected by domestic abuse. She also participates in the charity’s Self-Esteem programme which engages with girls from local primary schools in self-esteem workshops.

Sanna studied Law at the University of East Anglia in Norwich, graduating with a 2:1 LLB (Hons) degree. She subsequently completed her Legal Practice Course at Anglia Ruskin University in Chelmsford, achieving a Commendation.
