Kate Edwards

Kate qualified as a Solicitor in February 2018 and joined Birketts in February 2022. She is an Associate in our Commercial and Technology Team and our Data Protection Team. Kate is also a qualified Data Protection Practitioner.
Kate specialises in data protection services, helping businesses meet their data protection compliance requirements, and advising individuals on their data subject rights and how to exercise them. Kate has developed extensive experience in drafting suites of data protection compliance documents including external privacy policies, employee privacy notices and data protection policies. She also works closely with clients across all sectors to advise on and manage their responses to subject access requests.
Before joining Birketts, Kate worked as an in-house lawyer for a leading insurer and a smaller payment services provider in the Fintech sector.
Before entering the legal profession Kate worked in marketing and account management roles based in Norfolk, including the FMCG sector and the construction industry. This experience coupled with her in-house lawyer’s background has helped her develop a wide understanding of business processes and a pragmatic approach to her work. She thinks she can also remember how to build a stud wall.
Kate is based in our Norwich office.
