Alex is a Senior Associate in our Shipping and International Trade Team.

He first joined Birketts in 2015 having trained with a City firm. In 2023 / 2024 Alex spent some time working in the London claims department of an IG P&I Club largely handing FDD claims, before returning to private practice at Birketts.

Alex deals with all aspects of contentious dry shipping work, particularly bill of lading and charterparty disputes. He acts for cargo interests, charterers, vessel owners, and their respective insurers. Alex has extensive experience of both LMAA arbitration and High Court proceedings.

Alex is a keen sailor in his spare time. Prior to studying law he obtained a First Class degree in Social Anthropology from the University of St Andrews.

Alex is based in our Ipswich office but regularly travels to our London office.
