
Cara joined Birketts in September 2019 and is an Associate in the Residential Real Estate Team. She qualified as a Chartered Legal Executive in 2017 and additionally as a CILEx Conveyancing Practitioner in 2023, gaining additional Practice Rights.
With over 25 years of experience specialising in new build property, Cara has acted for numerous National House Builders and Registered Social Landlords. Her expertise spans both purchase, sale and part exchange transactions. She has also dealt with overseas property exhibitions in Kuala Lumpur, Hong Kong and Singapore, and acted for both UK and international banks.
Cara has in-depth knowledge of government-backed buyer assistance schemes such as the First Time Buyers Initiative, London Wide Initiative, Home Buy Direct, First Buy, Help to Buy, and the First Homes Scheme having also dealt with many Forces Help to Buy, Help to Buy ISA, and Lifetime ISA draw downs.
In addition, Cara acts for local authorities across the country, advising on the acquisition and buyback of properties for temporary accommodation and relocation programmes. Her wider experience includes ecclesiastical property purchases, remortgages, transfers of equity, buy to let and freehold and leasehold residential transactions. She is also the designated contact within the Chelmsford team for equity release matters.
A recent highlight includes acting for a Local Authority in the purchase of a bulk transfer of 18 units for a value of 5 million pounds by way of a hybrid residential and commercial contract.
