Daden Hunt is a Partner in the firm’s commercial litigation and dispute resolution team and is recognised as a leading individual in his field.
With more than 25 years at the firm, he is also the firm’s Compliance Officer for Legal Practice (COLP), playing a central role in the governance and regulatory framework of the firm.
Daden advises on complex, high-value disputes across the full spectrum of commercial litigation, arbitration and ADR. He is particularly known for his work on M&A disputes, shareholder and partnership disputes (including derivative actions), professional negligence claims, fraud and cross-border matters. He combines technical excellence with a sharp commercial focus, helping clients resolve disputes efficiently while protecting their wider business interests.
His client base spans a wide range of sectors, including agriculture, technology and logistics, and includes both UK and international businesses. Daden has extensive experience supporting clients in multi-jurisdictional disputes, acting for overseas clients and guiding UK clients through disputes in foreign courts with the support of the firm’s international network, including IAG Global.
Alongside his market-leading practice, Daden leads the firm’s approach to risk and compliance as COLP, underpinning the high standards of professionalism and governance expected of a leading UK law firm.
Recent work highlights
Acting in relation to a shareholder dispute
Advised a minority shareholder in relation to an unfair prejudice petition under section 994 of the Companies Act 2006, arising from diversion of business opportunities amongst other things. Assisted with evidence gathering, instruction of an expert and negotiating a buy-out, achieving a commercially favourable settlement without the need for a contested final hearing.
Acting in relation to a farming partnership dispute
Advised one of the two partners in a farming business on a complex partnership dispute involving capital and profit allocation and allegations of misconduct. Assisted with reviewing the partnership agreement, analysing financial arrangements and supporting negotiations, with a view to securing a practical resolution to preserve the long-term viability of the farming operation.
Acting in relation to a complex family business dispute
Advised shareholders in a contentious family business dispute involving allegations of mismanagement, unlawful share allocation and misappropriation of funds. Supported the investigation of financial records, development of strategic claims and engagement in without prejudice negotiations. Helped steer the matter towards a commercially pragmatic resolution while managing significant personal sensitivities between family members.
